Hurt feelings.

It takes a lot to offend me, but not much to hurt my feelings.

Here's the story (with a little backstory first). My parents live in a three story house. My mom and sister spend most of their time on the main floor (second floor) and my dad spends most of his time in the basement since that's where his office, tv and netflix/dvd/blurays are.

My husband goes up to his parent's house once a week to spend time with his son (they live closer to him than we do so it makes more sense for him to go to their house instead of coming home.) Sometimes he will stay part of the week so he wont have to go up, come back home and then two days later go up again to get Hunter for our weekend.

Recently Steve came home and told me that he and his dad were talking about me. My father-in-law was commenting on my loud voice (which has been pointed out to me in the past by others but sometimes I forget I'm talking loud) and how sometimes I'm talking so loud (and maybe even too much) that he has to go to his room.

Now the part that REALLY hurt my feelings. My father-in-law said he can understand why my dad always goes downstairs when I'm over (because I'm too loud.)

Now he was probably joking about that, but it still hurt. I can't get it out of my head and now I'm almost too afraid to talk when I'm visiting my in-laws.

I know I have a loud voice, but in my family if you don't have a loud voice you wont be heard. It's not something I do on purpose. I never know it until someone points it out to me.

Disappointed

I watched the VMAs and Miley Cyrus' performance. WHAT?!  What drugs was she on when she decided to do that? I wonder what her fiance thinks of her actions? I would dump her soooo fast. It would be so embarrassing for my friend's and family to see my fiance like that.

I recently watched the entire "Hannah Montana" Series and remembered what a "nice, normal" young girl she seemed to be. Is she trying to get away from that "goody-goody" character that she has to look like a freak?

It's so sad what she has become. I used to like her, but not anymore. Unless she grows up and becomes a classier person I think I am done with her.

Cartoons......what happened?

When I was growing up we had awesome cartoons (some of these may be older than I am, but I still watched them when I was younger so I'm adding them to the list). Smurfs, Looney Tunes, Tailspin, Gummi Bears, Scooby Doo Where are you? Thundercats, Transformers, Jem, Ducktales, Inspector Gadget, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Felix the Cat, He-Man and She-Ra, etc.

What has happened recently? I am channel surfing and will often stop on the Cartoon Network to see what's on and they have the stupidest cartoons on there now! (Sorry if you like any of these) Adventure Time????? Sponge Bob Square Pants????? Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja, The Amazing World of Gumball? Regular Show, Fish Hooks, etc.

Cartoons used to be more entertaining and less weird. They were quality animation and not the crap that is airing now. I wish the kids now could have grown up with the quality cartoons I grew up with. They usually had a moral to the story that was pretty obvious and did it in an entertaining way.

I can't wait to see what cartoons will be like when my nieces and nephews and step son have kids (insert sarcasm font here.)

The Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park Vacation

Every year my in-laws go to Colter Bay in the Grand Teton National Park for their vacation. Steve, Hunter and I went this year (we haven't gone every year) and just got home yesterday. It was fun but it was a little warm (but not as warm as Utah was.)

I took a bunch of photos (something I love to do, even if I don't have the nicest camera.)

I think my allergies were not adequately controlled while up there. I got a sore throat and cough that I think is related to my allergies. I hate coming home from vacation and being sick.

It was so beautiful there. I loved the weather (it wasn't that hot to me) and being with my family. It was wonderful.

and Nephew Daniel.

It was a fun vacation....now back to work tomorrow!

Some things about me you may not know.....

I haven't written in a while but I keep coming up with awesome ideas for posts....and then I forget them before I get home and near my computer.

Here are some things about me:

I alphabetize my movies.

I hate my handwriting, and try to write very slowly so that I can try to make it nicer.

I love to read, and sometimes re-read the same books.

I love movies, television, entertainment trivia.

I have worked in the health insurance industry for over 11 years.

I hate long sleeves and if I wear them I push them up above my elbows.

I sweat way too much and even if I straighten my hair I will sweat and cause it to curl again.

I've been watching Days of Our Lives since 1995 and love it!

I love Belle from Beauty and the Beast and collect anything to do with her (including kids toys)

I love magic but only the version on tv. I love "I Dream of Jeannie"; "Bewitched"; "Sabrina: The Teenage Witch"; "Charmed"; "Once Upon a Time" When I was younger I wished I had magical powers so that I could blink/wiggle my nose, and clean my room, or get my annoying brothers to leave me alone.

I have 3 nieces and 8 nephews. 2 nieces and four nephews on my side and 1 niece and 4 nephews on my husband's side.

I met my husband on an online LDS dating site. We were matched up on October 8, 2005; First date was November 5, 2005; engaged on February 14, 2006; and married September 20, 2006.

I became a mother as soon as I got married, a stepmother that is. My stepson was born in 2003 and just turned 10!

My favorite actresses are Drew Barrymore, Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock, Kate Beckinsale, Catherine Zeta Jones.

My favorite actors are Orlando Bloom, Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., John Cusack.

I still remember my childhood phone number, the number of my best friend, Yasmin, and the number for Derek's best friend Michael.

I am a Utah Jazz fan, Atlanta Braves fan (although I haven't watched baseball forever), I don't care about football but I hate: the Raiders, the Broncos, and the Cowboys. I don't watch hockey or soccer really so I don't have a favorite team.

I suffered a miscarriage at 11 weeks back in 2008. It was my first (and so far, only) pregnancy. I was devastated and it still effects me to this day.

My favorite teacher I ever had was Mrs. Van BLankenstein - my first grade teacher. I loved her so much that I visited her after I left the first grade. The last time I visited her was back in 2002. They recently tore down my elementary school and so I don't have anywhere to go and visit her. I miss seeing her, or at least being able to know where to see her. She was so kind and wonderful. My mom chose for my younger siblings to be in her class when they got to first grade.

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was born into the church, and was married in the Salt Lake Temple. Some people call us "Mormons" but I prefer the long name. I love the Gospel and the church is a very important part of my life. If you want to know more about my church please go to www.mormon.org.

14 Days of Valentines

I decided to do something different for Steve for Valentines Day this year. I had planned on making some coupons for the first 14 days of February and had some really cute ideas. Each coupon would also give him one of the many reasons I love him.

I had planned on working on these coupons one weekend in January. I even invited my mom and sister to meet me at a local scrapbook store (they could scrapbook while I worked on my coupons), but I was too sick that night to go. I forgot about making them until the last day of January.

I am going to put the pictures up of the coupons but I must put this disclaimer: This is the work of a professional procrastinator who had much better ideas but had to work with the stickers she had (and probably bought back in 1999), and scraps of cardstock that she crimped and punched into hearts and flowers.

I started with #14:

#13:
#12:
#11:
#10:
#9:
#8:
 #7:
#6:
#5:
#4:
#3:
#2:
And for # 1 I used one of my scrapbook stickers of Belle and the Beast (I'm a bit obsessed with Belle from Beauty and the Beast)
Now I've got to work on more coupons for another holiday (Father's Day, Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas?) and hopefully they will be better than these ones.
